      Biography

Liz Francis (Liesbeth Pepels) is a 17 year-old modern singer-songwriter from Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Her narrative lyrics will lead you through personal, simple ballads and light-hearted pop songs with hip hop-undertones. She has played at clubs, pubs, radio stations and festivals and has won several songwriting competitions like the Freedom ‘s Cool Festival, giving her the opportunity of playing the winning song We All Will Be Free at the Bevrijdingsfestival Nijmegen in 2016. Using only her acoustic guitar and voice, she skillfully crafts a built-up of live-looped percussion, guitar parts, bass lines and beautifully fusing backing vocals. On stage, she alternates between catchy songs and humble piano ballads. Her lyrics cover small, personal topics like hope, love and grief, but also more complex topics like political and social issues. By telling small but vivid stories, she aims to inspire her audience to look at life from a larger perspective. Her own inspiration, she finds in music covering the genres pop, jazz, and (modern) folk, of artists like Selah Sue, Amy Winehouse, Oh Wonder and Ed Sheeran.
